And now for something... Exactly the same

This is going to be a much more lighthearted post than you've seen in a while. No political commentary, no philosophy, just a game.

There's a meme going around the Livejournal community. Their rules are a *touch* more restrictive, but the gist of it is, "I post some song lyrics, you tell me what song they came from."

Well, I'm not a livejournal user, but what the heck, I say. What follows are lines from 25 songs. The binding element of my selection is, unlike the standard form of the meme, not simply "first 25 songs to come up when I randomize my playlist" (Because it is Somewhat More Complex Than I'd Like To Be Bothered With to listen to digital music right now. Also, my stockpile, while once considered considerable, is pretty meager in a world where people need 30 GB Ipods) , but rather, the first 25 songs from the list I carry around in my pocket of songs I can sing at karaoke. And away we go... (Also, note: Thanks to the peculiarities of the karaoke industry, some of these lyrics may not be quite, well, right. I'm giving you what the CD-G gives me)

1. I tried my imagination, but I was disturbed (264-5)
2. She feels better than ever and we're on fire, making our way back from Mars (436-12)
3. Honey said until you notice the problem, not to touch and mess around with your emotions. (207-11)
4. I wonder how they have the power to shine, shine, shine. (441-14)
5. I don't suppose it's worth the price, it's worth the price that I would pay (396-2)
6. Those days are gone forever, I should just let them go (420-12)
7. Do you remember when we used to sing? (20-4)
8. Well she did and she does and she'll do it again (344-16)
9. La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la (79-8)
10. Help me to forget today's pain (268-13)
11. She hates her life, she hates her skin, she even hates her friends (450-11)
12. A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes as if to hide a lonely tear (413-8)
13. I'm the kind of guy who induces a deep commitment (396-13)
14. You've got to take a little dirt to keep what you love (396-5)
15. When I wanted sunshine, I got rain (247-6)
16. I bring you flowers and a 22 with shells (277-8)
17. And a little tattoo somewhere in-between she only shows to me (478-11)
18. He'd tried everything but he'd run out of tricks (378-10)
19. Just so long it don't mess up his hair (338-5)
20. I smell like a sound (91-9)
21. Love may still exist in another place (75-12)
22. Alright let's go (427-1)
23. Oh lord, there must be something you can say (384-2)
24. Tell my wife I am trolling Atlantis and I still have my hands on the wheel (373-15)
25. They can't break me as long as I know who I am (343-17)

By the way, the comment feature seems to be working now, so if you've been stockpiling objections to my political views, knock yourself out.
